The Catholic community aboard Quantico is offering free admission for any active duty military for a Pray and Play weekend retreat to be held in nearby Prince William Forest Park, cabin compound 4. Married men may bring their sons if they are 12 or older. The retreat runs from 5 p.m. on July 9 to noon on July 12.

While primarily geared towards Catholics, men of other denominations may also participate. The retreat features not only outdoor activities like fishing, archery, orienteering, rustic construction methods, and athletics, but also time for quiet spiritual reflection and informal conversations with other men around the campfire. The sponsoring group, The King’s Men, is staffed by several former Marines. Accommodations in cabins with plumbing, nine meals, and snacks are provided including a great outdoor feast on Saturday evening. Last year, 82 men partook of the experience including 17 sons, who had some separate activities. The retreat is also open to non-military as well.

For more information please visit, www.thekingsmen.org. Thanks to the generosity of the sponsoring group, there will be no charge for active duty Marines of whatever rank. This is also true for their sons. This arrangement is only possible if reservations are made online after getting approval and a discount code from Father Michael, the Pastor to the Roman Catholic community aboard Quantico. For the reservation code please call 703-784-2518. For non-active duty men, the fee for the weekend is $235. Please note that a participant may book a cabin with. The retreat is endorsed not only by the Archdiocese for Military Services, but by the Diocese of Arlington, VA. Registration closes July 7.
